The Puyallup School District is the 10th largest district in Washington State, covering nearly 55 square miles and serving a population of nearly 150,000 residents. Puyallup schools serve more than 20,000 students in 21 elementary schools, six junior high schools, three comprehensive high schools, and the Walker campus, which offers program options for students in grades six through 12. The District employs approximately 2,408 personnel.

Located on Puyallup’s South Hill, Pierce College of Puyallup offers two-year programs leading to Associate in Arts and Sciences degrees, and to more than 30 Associates in Technology degrees in a variety of occupational subjects. Other courses culminate in a one-year certificate or are supplemental for the upgrading or continuation of job skills. Non-credit, personal interest classes and workshops are also offered. Continuing education and community service classes are offered at several sites throughout the area.

The University of Washington, Tacoma was created to serve Eastern Pierce County and the South Puget Sound region with high-quality educational programs for a range of students, including place-bound adults returning to complete their education, professionals working to enhance their careers, and traditional-age students transferring from community colleges.

UWT offers the junior and senior years of bachelor’s degrees (many students transfer from Pierce College of Puyallup) and master’s degree programs. Academic programs include Business Administration, Computing and Software Systems, an Interdisciplinary Arts and Science program that meets a wide range of educational and career needs, and professional programs in Nursing, Social Work and Education.

The Sumner School District comprises of an area that included the cities of Bonney Lake, Edgewood, Sumner and unincorporated areas of Pierce County. The district has 13 schools, a family support center, a district athletic complex, a performing arts center, a community swimming pool, a public gymnasium and a recreation department.
